Someone should tell W that the Middle East is already 'nuclearized' with Israel's (denied) possession of hundreds of warheads and that Iran's pursuit of nuclear technology is a natural reaction to a) nations on two of their borders having been invaded by the U.S., and b) witnessing the comprehensively different way in which N. Korea's possession of the bomb seemed to dictate it's ability to bargain successfully with the U.S.. Then again, the N. Koreans do not have oil and control over parts of the Straight of Hormuz.

The reference to Straussian contempt for the people is quite poignant:

Right on Larry. Bush 41 had big problems with Israel, and Bush 43 took a while to come around. Now the iraq war has screwed the US for decades to come, someone has to pay. And it's gonna be Bush & Friends.

I don't want to let myself feel sorry for the guy, but sometimes I do. It's gotta weigh on your heart and your mind to have screwed things up so monumentally right? Unless screwing up was part of The Plan Darryl talks about.

I expect some book published in 2020 will make this part of our history much clearer.

I often wonder myself if Bush is far smarter and more cunning than he appears to be.

I'm not sure I understand your position on Bush, Mr Mason. One day you're sympathetic toward him in your blog postings. The next day you shred him like a pile of pre-9/11 PDBs filled with "Osama Will Attack" warnings.

It can get a little schizo here.

Personally I don't think the US will go to war on Iran. I believe the final act of his presidency you discuss will be the isolation and capitulation of Israel.

BushCo must be careful of course.
